What makes a semester at Tec de Monterrey?

A semester at Tec de Monterrey lasts 18 weeks, which is divided into 3 cycles lasting 5 weeks each.

During the semester you will be able to take:

  • Formative Units:
    • Courses: Traditional courses (General and Disciplinary) that can last 5, 10, or 15 weeks
    • Blocks: (Learning Modules & Challenges) Contain challenges connected to reality + theoretical modules. Students can only participate in one block per cycle. 
  • Tec Week: Not mandatory for international students.

Credit Equivalencies

  • 1 Tec Credit equals: 15h class hours, 5 supervised activity hours and, 20 self-study hours. 
  • Each Formative Unit (Course or Block) provides different amounts of credits.

Evaluation System

Grade 100 99-90 89-80 79-70 Less than 70
DESCRIPTION EXCELLENT VERY GOOD GOOD AVERAGE FAILED
Each formative unit at Tec de Monterrey will be evaluated as follows:
  • 50% or more of the grade will be achieved by the evaluation of evidence. 
  • 50% or less of the grade will be achieved by the evaluation of traditional learning activities (exams, reports, cases, etc.)
