Experience Mexican Architecture this Summer at Campus Querétaro!

In the heart of Mexico, you will explore the legacy of world renowned architects while engaging with contemporary design practices.

Build, discover, and be inspired, expanding your global perspective through architecture, culture, and creativity.

Explore single-family housing rooted in Mexican tradition: patios, light and vibrant colors, and discover a unique perspective on Mexican architecture.

Through this program you will explore how to integrate social, cultural, environmental, and technical considerations into architectural design, while balancing aesthetic sensibility and functionality. 
Complementing the academic experience, you will also enjoy exclusive visits to iconic and contemporary works of Mexican architecture.

Program Structure

The program consists of the architecture course, Single Family Home, which offers an academic load of 4 Tec credits (6.6 ECTS or 4 US credits), with the option of combining it with an additional course: Spanish as a Second Language or Mexican Culture and Identity, of 3 Tec credits (5 ECTS or 3 US credits).

Academic Visits and Field Trimps

Exclusive visits to Luis Barragán’s Studio House, Casa Prieto and contemporary houses by Goma Haus, and cultural trips to Querétaro, Mexico City and Teotihuacán.

Luis Barragán’s Studio House

Luis Barragán’s Studio House

Built in 1948 and located in Mexico City, it was the home and workspace of Mexico’s Pritzker Prize-winning architect Luis Barragán.
 
It is considered a UNESCO World Heritage Site and masterpiece of light, space, and color.

Pedregal House  (Prieto House)

Pedregal House (Prieto House)

A Luis  Barragán’s residential project.

One of Barragán’s residential projects, that blends Mexican tradition with modernist design principles. Barragán designed the entire home, gardens, preserving existing native plants and worked around the iron-hard rock for which the area is famous.

Goma Haus

Goma Haus

Contemporary houses.

Experience contemporary Mexican architecture through visits to innovative single-family homes designed by Goma Haus. Their main focus is on integrating their projects with natural surroundings and use traditional materials and geometric forms.
